Eating healthy comes with it’s own challenges, one of them should not be having to worry that the foods are chemical laden. If you don’t wash your fruits & veggies, you could be harming yourself more than helping. Unless you grow your own fruits & veggies, you have no idea what is being used to protect their outsides from the elements, insects, and animals. Even the awesome “organic” section has some type of pesticide on them for protection.
My mom makes fun of me most of the time for cleaning my foods before eating them, she normally just runs some water over them and calls them good enough. I will not settle for just water, especially since I already have everything I would need in my pantry to make my own wash! And it smells so awesome 🙂
Just think about this… how many people (hands) have touched that fruit or vegetable before you?? YUCK!!!!!!! That’s enough to make you puke. You should wash everything you eat! Any given food item could have been touched by at least 20 different people before you because of picking, sorting, transferring, boxing, unboxing, unpacking at grocery, placing on shelves, the list could go on! Also, you need to wash the fruits & veggies you are going to be peeling because the bacteria from the outside can travel inside.
What is stopping you from washing your food? Is it because you don’t have time? Well I’ll share with you a time saver just in case that’s the only thing stopping you.
You only need 4 items to make your own, safe and chemical free, fruit & veggie wash!
Combine everything together in a spray bottle and shake. Now it’s ready for you to spray on your foods and scrub.
I know, sometimes I don’t want to individually spray every single thing. Well…. Just fill up your sink (cleaned, hopefully) with some hot water and adjust the recipe accordingly. I have a small prep sink in my island which is the perfect size to triple this recipe and it makes things so much easier!
