Sausage & Velveeta Sliders
I started making sausage & Velveeta sliders for my husband the very first year we were married. I was only 18 years old and I really had no idea what I was doing. My grandma Mary taught me a few things, but it was all pretty much just doughs and pies (which is still awesome). So I got a couple ingredients that sounded good to me and decided to mix them together. These sliders are still a staple in our house 5 years and 2 kids later, and they are still just as amazing as the first time we ate them.
For all the busy mama’s out there, this recipe is perfect; it takes less than 20 minutes from start to finish and it’s only 3 ingredients. I sometimes enjoy the complicated and hour (or two) long meals (it makes me feel satisfied… and awesome), but for the most part I like something super fast and easy to throw together. By the evening I am usually so tired that I just want to hangout with my kiddos and hubby. These sausage & Velveeta sliders are only 3 ingredients and soooooo yummy!
Anything that starts with butter is going to be amazing.
As you may know, this meal is picky eater approved! Which means my hubby doesn’t like things spicy… so I always use 1lb. hot sausage and 1lb. mild sausage. If I were making it just for myself I’d use 2lb. hot hot hot 😉 but this combo gives just the right amount of heat.
Oh, Velveeta… you’ve stolen my heart, every processed inch of you.
Brown & drain the sausage… it normally takes me exactly 7 minutes.
Time to add the oooey goooey part of this 🙂 I use 1lb. of Velveeta, or half the log, and always cut it up into little chunks so it’ll melt faster. I also add about 1/4 cup water at this stage so the Velveeta doesn’t get too thick. The first time I made this, I did NOT add the water and it was so thick… it was awesome to us because we were unaware it could ever be amazing and creamy. ADD THE WATER!
Oooey goooey perfection!
These Hawaiian buns are the secret for these being so perfect. And now they make BIG Hawaiian buns!! But we still love them as little sliders 🙂

Write a review
- 1lb. hot sausage
- 1lb. mild sausage
- 1lb. Velveeta
- 1/4 cup water
- Hawaiian buns for serving
- Brown and drain sausage, return to skillet.
- Add water and Velveeta.
- Stir until cheese is melted.
- Serve on Hawaiian buns.
- Feel free to use different sausage if you like it more or less spicy.
- Hawaiian buns are NOT optional (okay, they are... but they shouldn't be).
- I can easily feed 6 people with this. Since they're sliders, we usually have some sort of chip and dip to go with it.
